Type of beer: Porter
ABV: 5.0 %
IBU: N/A
Consumed at Arthur's Pass, New Zealand on November 25th, 2017.
Brewer’s Blurb:
Porter is the oldest commercially brewed style and London Porter was Emerson’s first beer. Dark, dry and mellow with some hoppy characteristics, pours a deep brown colour with reddish tints.
The aroma is toasty, with a hint of sweetness and some earthy hop notes. Firm-bodied but not heavy, with a creamy texture, the dryish palate is full of roasted malt, coffeeish notes and a sustained bitterness.
Michael’s Notes:
This was the last time we were at a campsite in our van, in the beautiful Arhtur's Pass National Park. We cooked some pasta on our gas stove, which wasn't the best pairing for a strong Porter, but surprisingly it went down well. If I ever have the chance to make some Welsh Rarebit in New Zealand, I would use this beer as a flavouring, as it was delicious and strong!
