Stop #03: Paihia

Number of nights: 5
Distance: 256 KM (329 KM Total)

We chose Paihia as our base of operations for the Bay of Islands area, which was a cute little sleepy seaside town. The weather was less than favorable, and that combined with the fact that we were still in the low season made the town feel extra sleepy. That being said, we had some memorable walks, a favorite being along the coast during sunset.

A swing! Wheee!
Walking along the Paihia coast during sunset. Very peaceful.
The Paihia pier at night.
Hey Now! They don’t sell these kinds of Maori statues in the souvenir shops!
Haruru Falls
The cutest little train station in Kawakawa, where the train actually ran straight through the center of town!
The very artistic toilets that pout Kawakawa on the map, although in my opinion I prefer the town being known for having a train go down the middle of the street.
Rainbow Falls
Motukokako Island
The Cape Brett Lighthouse
